our story
Two decades in the making, Cowards Prevail is the culmination of a lifelong love of music that began with childhood friends. Heavily influenced by rock legends like Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, and Bon Jovi, spending our early teens learning instruments, jamming together, and chasing the sound that first made us fall in love with music.

In our twenties, life took us in different directions. Though still close friends, music took a backseat as we each explored other paths. But a few years ago, Niles rediscovered his drive as a songwriter and broadened his musical influences, embracing grunge, blues, and even jazz, with artists like Chris Cornell and Alice in Chains becoming key inspirations. As his songwriting flourished, he rose through Leicester’s local music scene as both a writer and a session player, eventually becoming a full-time musician in 2021.

Over the years, we’ve played in various bands—sometimes together, sometimes apart—supporting incredible artists and experiencing unforgettable moments. But earlier this year, we asked ourselves: Why aren’t we our own band? And so, Cowards Prevail was born.
With just one spot left to fill—the drummer—we spent spring 2025 auditioning until Joe joined. From the moment he played with us, it just clicked. With the final piece in place, Cowards Prevail was finally complete. A 20-year dream had come to life.
